Q&A Monday

For all your beauty advice…

Good morning, and Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and didn’t eat too much. I took last week off to enjoy the holiday with my family, and I am excited to jump back in this week and write about product, product, and more products!! Thanks for the questions for this week. Read on about indulging in mascara, investing in skin care, and products to soothe your feet.

Dear Brooke, I am needing a new mascara and I want a good one. Not that the drug store brands aren’t ok, but I am going to invest some money with this purchase. What is your most favorite, higher-priced mascara? Thanks! Jodie T.

Dear Jodie, I love so many mascaras out there, it’s hard to name just one. The ones you get from the drug store are good, but sometimes, you get what you pay for. If I had to choose just one…ok, two…mascaras with a higher price point I would choose Smoky Lash by Make Up For Ever and Long Lash Mascara by Laura Mercier. Both are in the mid $20.oo range, and they are well worth the price. The mascara by Laura Mercier is deceiving because it has a small brush, but it really helps you control the application and define every lash. It doesn’t flake, so it’s good if you wear contact lenses. Smoky lash is great for creating thickness and volume. Find them both at Sephora.

Dear Brooke, I got a little extra Christmas cash this year and was thinking of indulging in the Clarisonic Cleansing System. You wrote about it a while ago…do you still love it as much? Is it really worth the price? Sondra C.

Dear Sondra, Yes, Yes, Yes!!! The Clarisonic is definitely an investment (or a “skinvestment” as they like to say), but it is worth every single penny! I have nothing bad to say about using this tool to get your skin as clean as it can possibly be. Pores will look smaller, fine lines will diminish over time, and your skin will feel clean, but not stripped of its natural oils. The initial investment can seem steep, but the brush heads are affordable and only need to be replaced every 3 months or so. If you have the extra money, go for it! You will be happy you did. Let me know what you decide!

Dear Brooke, I stand on my feet all day, and they feel tired at the end of the day. Also, this weather is making my feet dry and cracked. Do you have a favorite foot cream you recommend? Tracy N.

Dear Tracy, I can relate to tired feet at the end of the day. I have tried many lotions and creams to soothe my tootsies, but I always go back to my favorites. I love the Coconut Foot Cream by Burt’s Bees and L’Occitane makes an amazing foot cream as well. Both of them have a cooling feeling to soothe tired feet, but also have a high content of vitamin E, and other amazing oils to moisturize your soles. Rub either foot cream on, put on comfortable socks, and relax and let it soak in. Also, indulge in a pedicure every now and then, you deserve it!
