Gloss Yourself Senseless!!

For all your beauty advice…

Ok, we all know how much I love lip gloss. Not long ago, I did a contest asking my readers to take a guess on how many tubes of lip gloss I own. Honestly, I forget the final number because I’ve added a lot more to my collection since then. I can’t help myself. Hello, my name is Brooke, and I have a glossing problem! Well, since the first step is admitting it, I might as well put it all on the table and tell you which brands feed my addiction and why.

Chanel started my lip gloss addiction with their Glossimer lip gloss. I had just started working in cosmetics at Nordstrom when I first discovered this one. Thank God for a discount, because at $27 a pop, that’s quite an investment. It’s very luxurious, and it’s always nice to say you’re wearing Chanel, right? It comes in tons of colors, it has high shine, and a range of finishes from sheer to rich. Like all lip gloss, it looks great alone or over lipstick.

MAC has amazing gloss called Lip Glass. A lot more affordable than Chanel at $14 each, but just as nice. What I love about MAC, whether we’re talking eyes, lips, or face, the colors are highly pigmented and you get what you see as far as color, and they have amazing staying power. MAC has a couple different kinds of gloss in their line up now, but I’m only familiar with Lip Glass…so far. Also, I’ve found with most glosses that claim true color and lasting shine, that they are sticky and form a strange “line” on your lip right toward your mouth. MAC Lip Glass does not do that. The product is very moisturizing and feels really nice on your lips.

Juicy Tubes by Lancome have become a favorite too! (Ok, I love all of them or I wouldn’t be admitting my addiction to all of them). I always thought the name was cute, but I’ve always loved Lancome, so I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with this product. Like most glosses, they come in tons of colors and are very moisturizing. They are pretty sheer on color and look great when you line your lips with liner and skip the lipstick and put this on top. A little on the pricey side at $18 a tube, but they last a long time.

Tarina Tarantino Gem Gloss is awesome! I love this line all around because the packaging is adorable, it’s made by a famous jewelry designer, and it’s just that good. Tarina’s Gem Gloss is hydrating, and it has plumping properties to give your lips some fullness. Comes in tons of colors and, like Chanel, range from sheer to full color. $19 each. Not cheap, but really worth it.

Ok, I realize that these are all pretty pricey, and a lot of people I know right now aren’t going to spend $18-$27 for a tube of gloss. That’s why I’m saving the best for last. Sephora Super Shimmer Lip Gloss is truly one of the best, and most affordable, glosses out there. $10 a tube, lasts forever, and more colors to choose from than you can imagine. Very hydrating for your lips, I usually carry a tube of this with me instead of lip balm in the winter. Very sheer in color, and like all the glosses I talked about before, can be worn alone or over lipstick. I usually wear it alone, over some liner.

There are so many other brands I adore when it comes to gloss, but there’s not enough time in the world to tell you about them all at once. (That’s why you have to keep reading!) I have favorites from drug stores, I have favorites from home based businesses, etc. But, I wanted to write about these brands today.

Now it’s your turn to tell me. Are you as crazy about gloss as I am? What are your favorite brands? How many do you own?
