For all your beauty advice…
I am a big fan of Benefit Cosmetics. I have always loved their products and I love trying new things that come out in their line. Not too long ago, they took away my favorite eyeshadow primer, F.Y…eye! (See Discontinued… for my thoughts on that) I asked one of the representatives what was going on and why would they take away such an amazing product? She said it’s only because they came out with something even better. Well, my first thought was “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” but I didn’t say that. I decided to share in her excitement for the new product and give it a try.
Here’s what they claim it does: “This dual-action primer works 360 degrees around the eyes to make concealers and eyeshadows REALLY stay put. Concealers never crease and eyeshadows stay vibrant and true…you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!” You place 3 dots of this product on your eyelid and 3 dots of it under your eye where your concealor goes. Blend it in, let it set and apply your makeup as usual.
Here’s my experience with it: Immediately, I noticed how different this was from F.Y…eye! I really liked the texture of that one. It went on like a cream and smoothed down like a powder. Stay Don’t Stray is the texture of a liquid foundation. The first time I tried it, I used way too much and had this product all over and under my eyes. It was wet and sticky, too…ick! Ok, I decided to really read the directions on it and use it for a week or two and fall in love with it because it’s by Benefit so what’s not to love, right? Wrong. I really do not like this product at all! I’ve given it plenty of time and to me it feels like it increases grease on your eyelids. My eyeshadow was pretty much gone after a full day. When I used F.Y…eye! my eyeshadow looked just as nice at 8:00 p.m. as it did at 8:00 a.m. Stay Don’t Stray comes in a pretty small tube with a pump. I was told one entire pump is way too much for both eyes, you will need only half a pump for both eyes and this tube will last forever. Well, that would be fine and dandy if it wasn’t a controlled pump. There really isn’t a way to stop this halfway through the pumping process, so I always get too much.
I’ll be honest here, this has to be the biggest disappointment from Benefit ever! I really hate saying that. Benefit has so many cool products out there and I have been using them for years. I don’t know why they would get rid of such a good product and replace it with one that clearly doesn’t do what it claims to. I’m sorry Benefit, but you really missed the mark on this product. Good for you for keeping up with the trends and creating new things for your customers, but I think this product needs to go to The Land of Far Far Away.
If anyone from Benefit Cosmetics happens to be reading this, please listen to your customers and bring F.Y…eye! back! There was nothing wrong with it! I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, I’ve read the reviews. Stay Don’t Stray…I say stray.
Have any of my readers tried this yet? If so, what did you think of it? What are your favorite eye shadow primers? I look forward to your thoughts.
