Product Review…Stila and Laura Mercier

For all your beauty advice…

I went to two trainings this week that blew me away! Product training is always fun because you get to learn about new products coming out and you get to literally get your hands in them and see how they feel; try them on and see how they look. I was very fortunate this week to get trained by Stila and Laura Mercier. These weren’t any basic trainings! These were trainings that were being conducted by educators within the company that have pretty impressive resumes. Global makeup artists having done makeup all over the world and working directly with Laura Mercier and a  makeup artist that spent time at fashion week doing makeup with Stila for the BCBG show, among others…I am still in awe! I was lucky enough to try some new products both lines have out and they are amazing!!

I love eyeshadow; I have way too much of it. I want more. Laura Mercier has some new colors that are so pretty! St. Germain in the Sateen eyeshadow collection is, by far, my favorite. It’s a golden-aqua-green that complements all eye colors. It can go on very sheer or it can be applied with a heavier hand for a smoky look. I wore it yesterday and it stayed all day. Love it! Another must have product from their line is the Translucent Loose Setting Powder. The puff it works with is sold separately, but worth it! You work the powder into the puff and apply to your face when you’re finished with your  makeup and it will help your makeup stay on all day! (This one’s not new,  but it’s a must-have I wanted to acknowledge)  Be on the lookout for a new product that’s coming soon that you will love! It’s called Matte Translucent Setting Powder. It is awesome at absorbing oil and getting rid of shine. It’s a very light green color and that will help reduce any redness you may have. Use it in the middle of the day when you start to feel a little oil or see a little shine. This will take it away instantly!

I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with Stila! Anyone who is familiar with this brand may have been wondering what’s going on with it. Stores have been out of products and not restocking them. The shelves have looked bare and unloved. We all thought it was going away, but it is back…big time!! They have come out with so many new and fun products! One of my favorite Stila products is the eyeshadow in Kitten. It’s a great all over eye color that’s a shimmery pearl. Perfect for highlighting. (That one is not new either, but I had to give it a shout out) Stila has two new products I am thrilled about! One Step Makeup is going to be your new best friend. This full coverage foundation is primer, foundation, concealer and powder all in one easy step! It’s a very mousse-like texture, but it doesn’t feel heavy. I am usually hesitant to try full coverage foundation because it feels heavy on your skin. Trust me when I say, this does not! It dries to a soft powder finish and it’s set for the day. The next, and my most favorite, product that is new to the world of Stila. Yumberry Crush Cheek Stain. Just the name sounds cute! This cheek stain is a pretty pink for your cheeks or lips. It really does look great on all skin tones and Stila’s cheek stains react to your personal pH so the color looks great on you. If I hadn’t tried this on, I probably wouldn’t have thought it would look good on my skin tone. In the tube it looks “Barbie Pink”, but I tried it on both cheeks and lips and it was really pretty. It smells amazing, too! One important tip: Lip and Cheek Stains are just that…stains. Be careful if you’re putting them on your hands to test the colors, it will be there all day. I was playing with the stains and it looked like I had just dyed Easter eggs.

I hope you get a chance to try some of these great products! If you do, or have already, let me know what you think. Are you a fan of Laura Mercier or Stila? What’s your favorite product in their line? As always, I look forward to your comments.
