For all your beauty advice…

Don’t throw away your coffee grounds! Make an at-home body scrub that will make you feel like you escaped to a spa. Take the coffee grounds, and mix with a few tablespoons of sugar, and then add oil. You can use any oil you like, but I prefer coconut oil. Mix them all together, and scrub away! The sugar will exfoliate your skin, the oil will hydrate your skin, and the caffeine in the coffee will smooth your skin, and temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite. Plus, it will smell amazing while you’re scrubbing. There are so many spa treatments right in your kitchen!

For all your beauty advice…

Curling your eyelashes can really open up your eyes, giving them a fresh, youthful appearance. If you find that the “curl” doesn’t stay all day on your lashes, try this: Blast the eyelash curler with your blow dryer for a few seconds…seriously, just a few…like 3! Make sure the metal isn’t too hot before you curl. Your lashes are hair, and just like the hair on your head, heat styling temporarily changes the shape of your hair. Apply your mascara as usual!

For all your beauty advice…

Shine serums are a great way to finish your hair style, but they can be heavy, and make your roots look greasy. Put a small amount in your hands, and rub your hands together to warm the product. Then, work your hands through your hair from the ears down. This will give your hair a pretty gloss, and keep your roots from looking greasy.

For all your beauty advice…

If you don’t have time for a pedicure, but your feet need some love, put a thick foot cream on your feet before you work out. While you’re exercising, the cream will absorb into your feet, leaving your heels and soles feeling soft and smooth when you’re done. My favorite foot cream? Coconut Foot Creme by Burt’s Bees.

For all your beauty advice…

If you suffer from dry eyelids, and hesitate to use eye makeup, try using a liquid eye shadow, or a cream to powder eye shadow to prevent the color “clumping” on your lids. If you are going to use a powder eye shadow, make sure you use a primer on your lids before you apply to create a smooth surface for an even application.

For all your beauty advice…

If you use a wash cloth to rinse off your face after cleansing, don’t hang it to dry and use it more than once! When you air dry any kind of towel, bacteria settles in. You don’t want to rub bacteria all over your face when you just washed, it causes blemishes! Pick up some inexpensive wash cloths so you can use a different one every time you cleanse. Your skin will thank you!

If you’ve been swimming a lot to beat the heat, make sure you’re rinsing your hair in the shower before you jump in! Getting your hair wet, prior to swimming, will prevent too much chlorine from absorbing into your hair. You can also protect your hair one step further by applying a leave-in conditioner before you swim. Reapply the conditioner to your hair throughout your day in the sun for the ultimate protection.

For all your beauty advice…

If your nails tend to be dry and brittle, make sure you are using an acetone-free nail polish remover to remove regular nail polish. Removers with acetone work really fast, but they dry out your nails.  Save the removers that contain acetone for dark nail polish colors, and nail polish that has hard to remove glitter.

When you apply your sunscreen every day, whether it’s included in your moisturizer, or you’re planning on a full day in the sun, don’t stop at your face. Make sure you are applying SPF to your ears, tips to lobes, for all over protection. Sunburned ears are not fun to deal with, and so easy to prevent!

For all your beauty advice…

If you over did it on self tanner, or have streaks left behind, don’t reach for lemons like you always hear. Lemon juice will help to a certain extent by lightening the color, but it will dry your skin. Use oil on the area that got too much. Apply baby oil, or even olive oil, to the too tanned skin, let it soak in for about 20 minutes and then bathe to remove the oil. Oil is a better option because it will break down the pigment to remove it, not just brighten it. It will also moisturize your skin!
